I was reading a book yesterday and I went to put it down so I could get up and get something to drink when I realized I didn’t have a bookmark near me. I did, however, have a grocery receipt so I grabbed that and stuck it between the pages to use as a bookmark.
Which then got me thinking about all the other items I’ve used as placeholders in my books before.
Here are some of the things I’ve used as a bookmark:
grocery receipt
napkin
dollar bill
library receipt
candy
plastic knife
gift card
yarn
chapstick
pen
plastic bag
remote control
cell phone
ribbon
envelope
another book
watch
scissors
iphone charging cord
tissue
a sock
and, of course, an actual bookmark
What unconventional items have you used as a bookmark before?

Postcards are a big favorite of mine. Tickets to sports events or concerts work pretty nicely. We’ve got several pages of unique stamps in our bookmark basket. a 1950s order form for weekly reader magazine I found in a book once, has been an occasional bookmark. This was a neat idea for a post 🙂

Thanks! Sometimes I use a letter I found in a used book as a bookmark too!
