I write a lot about books and what I’m reading.
But sometimes I feel like writing about other stuff too. I thought I would start trying to write a little monthly wrap-up about other things in my life, speficially some of the other things I’ve watched, eaten or drank, or just loved this month. I’m not sure this will last, but here we go!
What I’m watching:
Lately, I’ve been watching a lot of PBS. I’m sorry to give some bad news but Pride and Prejudice (the 1995 BBC version) is no longer available to stream on Amazon Prime. Instead, you have to stream it on some new app that you have to pay for called BritBox. This is hugely disappointing.
Luckily PBS has come through and, for the past month, has been airing Pride and Prejudice on Saturday nights. I’ve can’t tell you how fortunate I am to get my Darcy fix. PBS has also been airing Downton Abbey on Friday nights. Since the movie is coming out in a few months, I believe they are airing the show so people can get caught up. Works for me!
Here in Seattle, I view PBS on channel 9 KCTS. I’m not sure if the Pride and Prejudice and Downton Abbey programming is only in Seattle or if it is everywhere. Either way, PBS has so many other great shows to watch like Antiques Roadshow (people have so much stuff!), Father Brown (if Jessica Fletcher was a priest in the 1950’s), and all the shows they’ve been airing this month about the race to the moon.
What I’m drinking:
On the Fourth of July, I went to a friend’s house for the afternoon. We hung out and had cheese and crackers (so much cheese!) and hummus and wine (so much wine!). But the best part was when my friend brought out her surprise drink – wine with a red, white, and blue rocket popsicle in it!
Let me tell you, it was so yummy.
We were drinking a sweet white wine and then add in the sweetness of the popsicle and it was just a tasty beverage that did not taste alcoholic at all, which is why I probably had about 3 of them.
What I’m loving:
I have to tell you, Seattle has been having the best summer. I’ve heard a lot of people say that the weather has been cool but all the meteorologists are saying that the weather is actually normal for this time of the year – it’s just that we’ve had such hot summers the past few years that we’ve forgotten what the normal temperature is for June and July.
We’ve had some rain and some cool days and some sun and some warm days. It has been fabulous and I am hoping August stays this great as well.
See you next month!
