I may have gone a bit overboard in supporting independent bookstores and stocking up on books to read during our quarantine lockdown. I have a large stack of books that are just waiting to be read and I am committed to reading them before the year is over.
Here are 10 books on my To Be Read list:
Beach Read by Emily Henry.
I ordered this book from Amazon earlier this year (after quarantine began) and planned to read it during the summer. I thought since it was titled Beach Read, that it would be a great book to read on vacation or at the beach because surely quarantine would be over by the summer. Needless to say, I have not been on vacation or to any sort of beach or water type place this year so this book has just been sitting on my bookshelf. I’ve heard so many good things about this book and am excited to read it.
A Woman of No Importance by Sonia Purnell.
This was my bookclub’s last pick. We were supposed to meet in March to discuss the book but never did and spoiler alert, I never read the book. This book is the true story of Virginia Hall, a Baltimore socialite who became one of the greatest spies in World War II. And she also happened to have a prosthetic leg. I suspect it may be like the book I just read, Spy by Danielle Steel, but hopefully a lot better.
Walk Me Home by Liza Kendall.
I received this book in one of my book subscription boxes. Signing up for book subscription boxes is another thing I did around the time quarantine started. This is a second chance romance where the main characters are both members of a wedding party. Additionally, this book has a dog on the cover which, how could you pass up a book with a dog on the cover!?!
Radio Silence by Alyssa Cole.
I’ve been wanting to read this book for a while and I thought this was the perfect time to read it. I ordered it from an independent bookstore during quarantine. The store was offering care packages where they would send you books you ordered or they would pick out books for you to surprise you so I took advantage of that and bought some books to support the independent bookstore. In this book, the apocalypse happens and all the electricity gets turned off so there is no power and no water, and the heroine and her friends have to survive somehow not knowing if the power will ever come back on. Kind of like now, since we don’t know if quarantine will ever end…
The Bookish Life of Nina Hill by Abbi Waxman.
This book has been sitting on my nightstand for over a year. I picked this book up last summer when I was on vacation. I love going to local bookstores while on vacation and this book was the product of one of those visits. This is a book about books and about a girl who loves books. Who wouldn’t want to read it?
The Honey-Don’t List by Christina Lauren.
This book was also purchased from an independent book store. I’ve only read one book by Christina Lauren but I liked it a lot so I wanted to read another one of their books. This book sounds great! It’s about a well-known home remodeling duo who are on the verge of divorce and their assistants who are forced to go on tour with them while they launch their new show and book.
The Witness by Nora Roberts.
This book was lent to me by a friend earlier this year when I was going through a Nora Roberts phase. I love getting book recommendations from friends! I feel bad though because I’ve had this book for many months so I really need to read it so I can give it back to her.
The Secret She Keeps by HelenKay Dimon.
This book came in my independent book store care package. This is a romance/mystery that takes place on a fictional island off the Washington coast. I enjoy reading books that take place where I live because I love reading how the author describes the area and I like to keep a lookout for things and places I recognize.
Fitness Junkie by Lucy Sykes and Jo Piazza.
I think I purchased this book late last year. I’ve read The Knockoff, another book by the authors, and liked it so I put this one on my list. When the heroine, the CEO of a couture wedding gown company, is photographed at a fashion show eating a pastry and looking a bit pudgy, her business partner gives her an ultimatum: lose 30 pounds or lose your job. It’s a satire and full of social commentary and I can’t wait to read it.
The Other Daughter by Lisa Gardner.
This book is another book that came in my independent bookstore care package. It’s a thriller about a woman who was adopted when she was a child and has no memory of her life before her adoption but now someone may be trying to kill her because of her past (?). I’m not sure if it is a romance as well but I can only hope. I haven’t read a Lisa Gardner book in a long time but I remember liking the previous ones I’ve read.

Thank you for sharing ☺️
Thanks for reading!!
