Happy Halloween! My favorite part of Halloween, besides eating Reese’s pumpkins, is seeing dogs in Halloween costumes. Is there anything cuter? I love a dog (or cat if they let you!) in a fancy costume. Unfortunately, Halloween means it’s one week closer to the end of daylight saving time in the U.S. We turn the clocks back next weekend which means I will now be walking home from work in the dark. I’m going to enjoy this last week of daylight haha! Here is my monthly wrap-up of some of the things I was up to in the month of October.
What I’m watching:
I watched a show on Netflix called Into the Night and its spin-off show Yakamoz S-245. I loved both of these shows. Into the Night is a Belgium show (I watched it on Netflix dubbed in English) about a group of airline passengers on a red-eye flight from Brussels to Moscow. While in the process of boarding, the airplane is hijacked by a man who tells the pilots to take off and fly west. The passengers and pilots soon realize that there is a solar phenomenon happening where exposure to sunlight is killing people. They are not affected since they have been flying during nighttime and therefore they must continue to travel “into the night” to stay alive.
The spin-off of the show takes place at the same time period and is about a group of soldiers aboard a submarine who surface one night and realize that all the people on land are dead. They rescue some ocean researchers who survived because they also happened to be on an underwater mission. The two groups, now all on the submarine, have to work together as the submarine dives each day down into the water and then surfaces at night while trying to figure out what happened. Yakamoz S-245 is a Turkish show so, again, I watched it dubbed in English on Netflix. There are currently 2 seasons of Into the Night and 1 season of Yakamoz S-245 available to watch. I am a little bummed because I have a strong suspicion that neither of them will be renewed for more seasons. They both ended on cliffhangers and now I’m dying to find out what happens.
Where I’m traveling:
I took a trip at the beginning of the month to Montreal and Quebec City. I had never been to either of these cities and now I can’t wait to go back. The cities were beautiful. I loved all the old architecture and, although I am not religious, I loved all the old churches. Everyone spoke both French and English so it was super easy to get around and talk to people. The one thing that surprised me was all the pizza places in Montreal – I was not expecting a French city to have so much pizza! We were in the main tourist section so perhaps that had something to do with it? I did go into a bookstore where I should not have been surprised that almost all the books were in French. Montreal and Quebec City are must-visits!
What I’m waiting for:
Okay, so this is kind of a rant but one of the things that has annoyed me all this month is all the political advertisements on television. The U.S. has its midterm elections on November 8 and I can’t wait until they are over so I won’t have to see another political commercial for a while. It seems like during every commercial break, there are at least two political commercials. They are getting to be so tiresome. I mean, do commercials really influence the way people vote? I’ve had my mind made up for a while now about who I am going to vote for and the commercials have done nothing to change my mind. I hope the candidates and all the political action committees are getting their money’s worth because I do not care one bit about these commercials and the only thing they serve to do is make me angry. Rant over.
See you next month!

I’ve always wanted to go to Montreal so I enjoyed reading your take on the city. That’s interesting how there was so much pizza! I don’t have a problem with that thought I’d probably make myself not have it (or it could come in handy since it’s one of the most reliable things my kids will eat).
We dressed our pug up in either a skeleton or bumblebee costume, haha! Still have the bumble costume even though she died six or seven years ago (she was really old). We want to get another pug next year so maybe he/she will carry on the tradition!
Yes Montreal was super fun. Hopefully I can post some pics from the trip. I had pizza 2 of the days I was there – once for lunch and once for dinner, and I could have eaten it more!
I bet your pug was so cute!
