Happy April! Spring is finally here, the days are getting longer, and I’m not freezing in the morning when I walk to work. I’ve also been getting out in the evenings after work to take advantage of the extra sunshine. I’m hoping as it gets warmer, I can start getting up earlier in the morning again but we’ll see. Here is my monthly wrap-up of some of the things I was up to last month in March.
Where I’m traveling:
I took an overnight trip last month to Victoria, BC. Victoria is super cute and it’s really easy to get there from Seattle – I took the Victoria Clipper which is a 3-hour ferry ride that takes you right into Victoria Harbor. One of the things I did while I was there was visit the Butchart Gardens. As with most everywhere else, Victoria’s weather has been unusual this winter and they’ve been especially cold. Because of that, their spring hasn’t quite started yet which means a lot of the flowers at the Garden have yet to bloom. Still, there was a lot to see and it was very beautiful.
What I’m watching:
I must be into stories about vanishing airplanes because not only did I watch MH370: The Plane That Disappeared on Netflix, but I’ve also been watching the tv show Manifest (also on Netflix). MH370 is about the 2014 disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. I remember when this airplane disappeared and I still can’t believe that no one has found it. I thought the show was interesting and I was greatly amused by the conspiracy theories put out as to what really happened. I did think the show was going to be more factual and some of the parts that I found most interesting were when they were describing what was happening in Malaysia and what they were telling the families of the missing passengers. I wanted to know more about what actually happened but I guess since we don’t 100% know what caused the airplane to disappear from radar and crash, they thought they could just focus on the theories of what happened.
The other show I started watching is Manifest. I had wanted to watch this show when it came out on network tv a few years ago but I never did. I came across it while scrolling through Netflix and decided I was finally going to watch it. I’m only about halfway through the first season but I like it a lot and I can’t wait to see where it goes.
What I’m loving:
I have spent the last couple of weeks unsubscribing from email lists and I love it. Every day, I get so many emails from stores and companies and just random things that I’ve signed up for over the years. I found that I was deleting so many emails without even reading them. Many of the emails were from stores that I had been to a few times and I would tell myself that maybe one day I would shop there again so it would be useful to have their emails. Or it would be a service that I didn’t want to forget about because I might use it one day so I wanted to continue to receive their marketing emails. But I came to realize that it would probably never happen and I would be so much more content if I didn’t get all these emails. I must have unsubscribed from at least 25 email subscriptions and it makes me much happier when I open up my email in the morning.
See you next month!
