The social event of the season is Summer Harrington’s wedding and Willa Bauer is invited to put on a cheese bar at the bridal shower. But what was intended to be a happy event soon turns rotten when the groom gets into a fight with Roman, Willa’s potential suitor, and then Willa finds the groom dead in the stable.
Curds of Prey is the third book in the Cheese Shop Mystery series. Once again, Willa sets out with her trusty employees/friends, nicknamed Team Cheese, to uncover who killed a member of her small-town community. I think this series just keeps getting better with each book and I am loving it.
There is so much cheese in this book! Just about every chapter has Willa baking some sort of cheese confection or making a cheese plate to eat. I read the paperback and there were even recipes at the end of the book of dishes that Willa had made and talked about. If you like cheese and like hearing about cheese, you will like this book.
I loved all the members of Team Cheese and I think the author is doing a great job of fleshing out the characters and giving everyone a story. We meet more people from the town in this book and I hope they continue to show up in subsequent books. I like the friendships that Willa has with her employees Archie and Mrs. Schultz, as well as with her neighbor Baz. I would definitely want to be friends with this group.
The only thing I found a bit annoying was the way that Willa was so sure that Roman was innocent. I’m not going to spoil the book and tell you who the killer is, but it was a bit frustrating that Willa seemed to automatically exclude him as a suspect just because they knew each other.
I am really enjoying this series!
