Mika Moon has had to hide her magic all her life as it’s dangerous to draw attention and mingle with other witches. Her only outlet is her online account where she posts videos “pretending” to be a witch. But then she is contacted and asked to teach three young witches, living together at Nowhere House, how to control their magic. Mika finds herself caught up in not only her three charges’ lives, but the lives of the other residents of Nowhere House – a retired actor and his husband, a long-standing housekeeper, and a cute but crabby librarian named Jamie.
This book was super cute and just a fun, all-around read. All the characters were delightful and I love a story with a found-family element. It left me with a big smile when I was done reading.
I don’t know why I thought this book took place in the eighteen-hundreds considering that Mika has an online account where she posts videos, but you should not be surprised that it takes place in the modern world. Mika has a car that she nicknamed the Broomstick which I thought was hilarious and I loved reading about witches existing in the modern-day world.
I don’t really have much to say about this book other than it was utterly charming. If you are looking for a book to read on a lazy or rainy day, this is it.
