October always feels like the month where everything changes. All of a sudden, it’s dark in the morning when I leave for work, and it’s time to get the heavier coats out of the closet. The leaves turn colors and the air gets crisp, and I’ve been changing out my iced lattes for something hot. This month was a mix of a lot of rain, little adventures, and staying cozy.
Here is my monthly wrap-up of some of the other things I was up to in October:
Watching The Great British Baking Show:
I’ve been watching the latest season of The Great British Baking Show on Netflix. There’s only one episode left, and it’s the finale that will air this Friday. I’m so excited to see who wins. The Great British Baking Show is such a comforting show to watch. Everything about it screams cozy – the music, the baking, all the British words that I don’t know the definition of. As usual, this season was great, and all the bakers are amazing. I can’t believe some of the stuff they come up with and turn into edible creations. Also, I love Noel and Alison – they are fantastic hosts and I love their dynamic.
A new New York Times game
The newest New York Times game, Pips, has officially become my latest little obsession. It’s a domino-style puzzle where you drag pieces onto a board and try to satisfy different conditions. Sometimes two squares need to add up to a certain number, and other times an entire region has to match the same value. It’s simple in concept but surprisingly satisfying.
There are three difficulty levels to choose from, and you can play as many as you’d like each day. I’ve happily added Pips to my growing rotation of NYT games, and so far, it’s been such a fun, clever addition to my daily puzzle routine.
Wearing comfy pants:
I’m ridiculously excited that the weather has finally cooled down, because it means I can come home from work, ditch my real clothes, and slip straight into my beloved comfy pants. My comfy pants are a pair of fleece pajama bottoms that I believe I bought from Old Navy a few years ago, and they are, as their name suggests, incredibly comfortable. There’s something so luxurious about trading structured outfits for slouchy, cozy pants at the end of the day. It feels like a tiny act of self-care, and I am fully here for it.
See you next month!

This is my favorite time of year! And I love The Great British Baking Show – it’s so fun to watch. 😄
The Great British Baking Show is such a comfort watch! I could rewatch every episode and never get tired of seeing people baking stuff.
