Emma Sheridan is an obsessed Outlander fan who is on the hunt for her very own Jamie Fraser. She decides to quit her job, sell all her possessions, and travel to Scotland where she will follow in Claire Randall’s shoes and hopefully find a real-life Jamie.
I have not read the Outlander books or seen the show (as I do not have cable) but, as an avid historical romance reader, I can appreciate the hunt for a Scotsman. Emma decides to chronicle her adventures in a blog. I really liked reading Emma’s blog posts and liked how they were tied in with the book. Books about writers, journalists, are bloggers are my catnip. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and thought it was super cute.
I liked the entire cast of characters. As with most romance novels, it was easy to see where the plot was going here, but I enjoyed all the hijinks Emma got up to on her way there. I thought Emma was an intriguing character. While I felt some of her choices and actions were questionable, I enjoyed her tenacity and willingness to go after what she wanted.
This book made me want to read Outlander. I have yet to pick up the book (I’m a little scared because of how long the books are) but I did put myself on the hold list to check out the television series from the library.
