The other day, I was on the bus coming home from work, and I saw that the woman sitting in the seat in front of me was reading the same book as I was. What a crazy coincidence!
First off, this woman was reading a physical book and not staring at her phone as I see so many people do on the bus, but she also happened to be reading the same book I had just checked out from the library (I didn’t see any library tags on her book so I assume she owned it).
I wanted to jump up and move to sit next to her and ask her a bunch of questions, like how far into the book she was and if she liked it. I wondered what her favorite part had been so far, but then I realized that might be weird if a stranger ran up to you and started blathering on about a book.
I briefly debated if there was a way I could walk and subtly show her the book cover so she would see it, but again, I thought that might be weird. There are enough weird people on the bus without me obsessing over seeing someone read the same book as me. I settled for staying seated in my seat and just wondering what she was thinking about the book.
Still, it was so exciting to see someone else reading the same book at the same time!
