For 2020, I set a goal to read 50 books. When I was setting this goal back in early January last year, I thought it was totally doable. But as we all know, 2020 did not turn out like anyone thought it would. I had a lot of trouble sitting down to read – I’m not sure why. Maybe my mind was already busy and preoccupied with thinking of other things. As a result, I didn’t read as many books as I had hoped to. Still, I managed to read 47 books in 2020.
Here’s how I did in 2020:
Number of books read: 47
This averages out to just under one book read per week.
Number of pages read: 16,540
Averages out to approximately 318 pages read a week.
Longest book:
The Winter Sea at 544 pages.
Shortest book:
Knit Tight at 112 pages.
Average Book Length:
351 pages
According to Goodreads, my average rating was 3.4 stars. This is just a bit higher than my average rating from last year, 3.2. I tend to rate most books around 3 or so (or as Goodreads likes to say “It was good”).
Books by genre:
Fiction – 45
Nonfiction – 2
Books read for book club – 0
My book club was supposed to meet in March, but we had to cancel due to the pandemic (and I never read the book). Unfortunately, we were unable to schedule a virtual meetup so I haven’t seen my book club ladies in over a year! Hopefully, we can start meeting again this year.
Books by acquisition type:
19 books were borrowed from the library
10 books were from my bookshelves
2 books were borrowed from friends
16 books were purchased this year
I had hoped to read some of the books that I have sitting in my bookcases waiting to be read. I got through some of them but I did buy a number of books this year to help out local bookstores during the pandemic.
Books by format:
Paperback – 17
Hardback – 6
Ebooks – 24
Here’s hoping my passion for reading finds me again in 2021!!

I love this reading-in-review! I really enjoy going studying my Goodreads page from time-to-time and looking back through my list of books read (or the ones that have been on my list to read) but I’ve never really broken down my reading like this. I’m quite certain I haven’t read 47 books this year. You’re a very prolific reader. Happy reading in 2021!
I love looking back at my Goodreads. There’s always at least 1 book that I swore I read 2 years ago and not 2 months ago. Plus there are so many books that I’ve forgotten about.
