Book club, I love you, but sometimes I just can’t attend all of the meetings. I love seeing all my friends and chatting about books and our lives but there are times when I can’t make it. Usually, I just say I can’t attend. And when I say I can’t attend book club this month, here’s what I really mean:
- I didn’t read the book.
- I didn’t like the book.
- I don’t have a ride.
- It’s raining.
- The person hosting lives too far away.
- I’ve been too busy this week and I just want a day off.
- I forgot that book club was this weekend.
- I have visitors in town and they do not want to go to a book club.
- I’m going out of town.
- I’m supposed to bring a snack and have nothing in my refrigerator or cupboards.
Sorry book club! Maybe I’ll make it next time.
