I sat down to read this weekend and made sure I had everything I needed within reach: my book, some water, a blanket, and of course – snacks.
I love to have snacks while reading. Over the years I have realized that there is a process when deciding which snacks to consume while reading. There are a lot of things to consider.
I’ve found that it’s important to have a snack that can be eaten with one hand. That way, you don’t have to put down your book when you grab something to munch on.
I also try to avoid messy food. You don’t want to have to worry about getting any food residue on the pages or worry about spilling something all over the place. Plus, it’s hard to wipe your fingers off when you’re only using one hand. It’s also a good idea to eat something that you don’t have to pay much attention to so that you don’t have to take your eyes off of what you’re reading.
Here are some of my favorite snacks for reading:
- Popcorn
- Cheez-its
- Reese’s pieces
- Chips
- Coffee (not technically something that can be eaten but if you drink it like I do with lots of milk and syrup, I consider it a snack)
- Cake
- Cheese and crackers (slice up your cheese and assemble everything beforehand so you can just grab and eat)
- Girl scout cookies
- Any cookies
- Goldfish crackers
- Basically, anything that you can grab one-handed
Did I miss any?
