Happy Halloween! This year is just flying by. Remember Halloween 2020 and all of the ways that people came up with to hand out candy while still social distancing? I hope this Halloween is better than last year, although I will miss all the cute little candy shoots. Here is my monthly wrap-up of some of the things I’ve watched, eaten or drank, or just loved for the month of October.
What I’m watching:
I’ve been watching a couple of different shows this month. There is a new season of Great British Baking Show on Netflix and I’ve been watching a new episode every Friday. Episode 6, Pastry Week, just aired so there are still a handful of episodes left this season. I’m still not sure how I feel about presenters Noel and Matt but we’ll see. I’ve also been catching up on The Expanse on Amazon Prime to get ready for the final season when it comes out in December. That show is going in a completely different direction than I thought it would but I am still watching. Maybe one of these days I will read the book series. I also watched Squid Game on Netflix. I actually really liked this show. What I liked about it was, although it is very violent, I enjoyed that it was not a sequel, or a remake, or about superheroes, or based on a book. I thought it was original and I stayed away from any spoilers so that I could be surprised while watching.
What I’m eating:
Lately, I have been eating a lot of cheese and crackers. My favorite crackers are the Town House original snack crackers. I love these buttery crackers! Sometimes I eat them with peanut butter and make little sandwiches out of them. Usually, I will slice up some cheese and put it on top of the cracker, and eat it. Sometimes I’ll add a piece of pepperoni, making my own grown-up Lunchable.
What I’m loving:
I can’t remember if I was listening to a podcast or reading this somewhere but I heard something about how in the early 1900s there was a plan to breed hippopotamuses in Louisiana. I found this article on Wired that describes how the idea was to bring hippos to the land because they would eat the invasive plants that were causing problems with the waterways. After they would eat the plants, the hippos could then be slaughtered for meat which would help a national meat shortage. I thought this was an urban legend until I read the article and realized that it was a real thing. I can’t tell if this was a crazy or genius idea. Can you imagine if this hippo plan went through?
See you next month!
