Edie Meyer’s grandmother has a special gift – she has accurately predicted the day every member of her family has met their soulmate. So when Edie’s day falls on the day she is flying to Maine to attend a surprise engagement for her twin sister, she knows that the handsome stranger who sits next to her on the plane is the one she is meant to marry. Or is he?

I thought this was a super cute premise for a book and I loved the thought of a grandmother with her own brand of magic. Unfortunately, I didn’t love the Edie character which kind of brought the book down. I tried to keep an open mind but Edie was just obsessed with getting married and finding The One and she was so fixated on how everything had to work out because obviously, Theo (the guy from the plane) was her soulmate.

One of the things I can’t stop thinking about is how Edie and Theo did not seem to communicate with one another. Edie is Jewish and I loved the Jewish representation and learning more about Jewish culture and customs. However, for all the talk that Edie has about being Jewish and how she can’t wait to share these traditions with her future children, there is no discussion about her to-be husband converting to Judaism or how he feels about raising potential children under the Jewish faith. I couldn’t understand why this was never brought up and thought it was a real missed opportunity for the two to communicate.

There were parts in this book that were cute, but that’s about it. The ending was okay but I thought it could be better. Although I could see it coming from a mile away, it felt extremely rushed and underdeveloped to me.
