Happy winter solstice! It is officially winter. Today is the shortest day of the year; starting tomorrow, the days will slowly get longer.
Although winter is one of my favorite seasons because of the holidays, sometimes it’s difficult to keep moving during the winter. It’s so easy to just stay in your apartment and hibernate. I feel like bears have the right idea during the winter!
To keep up the momentum, I made a bucket list of fun things to do this winter:
1. Drink hot chocolate. I always drink hot chocolate but what is winter without hot chocolate?
2. Got to a cabin. For real this time. Not like last time.
3. Go to WildLaterns at Woodland Park Zoo. I’ve always wanted to go to this to see all the cool lights. Maybe this year!
4. Bake something new.
5. Put together a puzzle. Puzzles are the best for those cold winter nights when you want to stay in!
6. Go to the movies. I haven’t been to a movie theater in almost three years because of Covid. I think it’s time to go back and see something fun.
7. Go on a winter walk. I can’t wait to bundle up and go on a walk and look at all the twinkling lights.
8. Make chili.
9. Have a self-care day.
10. Knit a shawl. I am going to finish a shawl this winter.
11. Run a 5k. There are a bunch of 5ks to run in the winter – resolution runs, Valentine’s Day runs, St. Patrick’s Day runs, and the Hot Chocolate run, to name a few.
12. Sit in a hot tub on a cold night.
13. Declutter. It’s the best time to declutter all those Christmas decorations you didn’t use this year.
14. Plan trips for 2023.
15. Buy flowers. I love buying colorful flowers to brighten up my apartment during the winter months.
