For the past ten years, Molly and Andrew have caught the same flight from Chicago to Dublin to go home for the holidays. During that time the two have become friends and Molly finds herself looking forward to their flight every year. She’s not really into Christmas, but Andrew loves the holiday season. When their flight gets canceled because of a freak snowstorm, Molly vows to do whatever she can to get Andrew home for Christmas. It may take a couple extra flights, a train, and a ferry, but they will get there in time for Christmas dinner.
I know the holiday season is technically over, but I’m still finishing up reading my holiday books. There’s nothing that says you can only read Christmas-themed books at Christmas time! I loved knowing that, although I had to go to work during the day, I could come home and read a fun and festive holiday book and still feel like I was on vacation.
This book definitely has Planes, Trains and Automobiles vibes, although Molly and Andrew do not get up to as many hijinks as the film. (Also, who approved that movie title without the Oxford comma??) I loved Molly’s commitment to getting Andrew home to his family. Speaking of families, I really liked both Molly’s and Andrew’s families. Both families were super nice and no one had a jealous sibling; it was really refreshing to read about real, functional families that love each other.
I loved the romance in this book. It’s a friends-to-lovers romance and I thought it was portrayed perfectly. Andrew and Molly have great chemistry. There is minimal angst and no miscommunications. It’s just two people, behaving like adults, who realize that they have slowly fallen for one another and I loved it.
This is a super cute book and I’m bummed I didn’t read it while I was actually traveling.
