Sydney, a CIA agent, is going undercover for the holidays. Her sister has announced her engagement to Johnny Jones, the heir of an organized crime family. Sydney is asked to infiltrate his family and gather evidence before Johnny can pull off his most dangerous heist yet. The only thing in her way is Johnny’s handsome friend and bodyguard, Nick.
This was a fun book. It hit on a couple of deeper topics that I was not expecting, like abandonment and family. I could definitely see this book as a Hallmark or Lifetime movie. It has all the elements – it was funny, there were hijinks, it takes place over the week leading up to Christmas, and of course, there is romance.
There are some great side characters, including Sydney’s grandmother. The plot did get a little tiresome at some points, the way that Sydney was so suspicious of everything that Johnny and Nick did. I would have liked this book more but since it does take place over one week, I felt it was kind of rushed.
Still, it was an entertaining holiday read!
