The pilot of Coastal Flight 235 suffers a heart attack and dies while in the air. The first officer is in the lavatory and the flight attendant in the cockpit is unable to regain control of the aircraft. With 295 people on board, the plane nose dives and crashes into the town of Waketa, Minnesota, which houses the Clover Hill nuclear power plant. Debris from the crash spreads far and wide, but what is most concerning is the devastation to the nuclear plant. Now it becomes a race against time to repair the damage to the plant and get it up and running before it triggers a nuclear meltdown.
The action started in this book right away and I loved it. The pilot dies on page 1 and the plane crashes in the first ten pages. I was not expecting to be thrust into so much excitement at the beginning but I am not complaining. I knew as soon as I read the first page that this book was going to be a thrill ride and I was not wrong. Even after the plane crash, the rest of the book is about the aftermath and saving the nuclear power plant, which was so gripping and riveting.
This book was a super quick read because the action kept going and going. I couldn’t help but turn the pages and try to figure out what would happen next. There is some nuclear plant jargon that I didn’t always understand but all you need to know is that if you touch the nuclear rods, you’ll die. If the water in the pool that holds the nuclear rods dips below a certain level, everyone will die. If the generators fail and the plant loses power, everyone will die. So there’s a lot riding on keeping the pool full and keeping the nuclear plant up and running, which has been hampered by the plane crash and debris field.
I could definitely see this being made into a disaster movie. There was so much action and tension and suspension. The author does not hold back and not everyone makes it, which honestly kind of shocked me. I loved all of the characters and I wanted everyone to have a happy ending after surviving this disaster.
The author’s other two books have been more about events that happen on the airplanes, such as a plane hijacking in one and the aftermath of a plane crash where passengers are trapped inside the plane after it sinks to the bottom of the ocean in the other. Here, all of the action was at the nuclear power plant and surrounding areas, so the book did have a different feel than the others. Personally, I like it when the action takes place on the airplane because then you also add in this element of being trapped with nowhere to go. I think that really heightens the suspense. Hopefully the author’s next book will be more about the airplane aspect.
This one was super fun to read!

Omg this book sounds so stressful. Haha. To the point where I’d probably read it in 2 days just cause I HAD to know what happens. I love that you enjoyed this book!
