When Georgina takes a bartending job at a newly opened pub, she is shocked to see that one of the pub owners is Lucas McCarthy – the boy she fell in love with at school. However, while Georgina recognizes him, Lucas does not recognize her. (That’s it. That’s the basic plot of this book.)
This book is a second chance romance between Georgina and Lucas. And while they get their happily ever after, it does happen on almost the last page. So, I guess there is not really a lot of romance in this book…
I liked the character of Georgina. She had a lot of strength and looked out for herself. She wasn’t afraid to fight for what she believed in, even when other people wouldn’t. She also had a great group of friends and family.
There were a lot of good parts in the book but to be honest, there were also a lot of unmemorable parts as well. Honestly, I’ll probably forget a large portion of the plot in a few months. There just seemed to be a lot of scenes that didn’t really move the storyline along.
For instance, the book starts off with Georgina breaking up with her boyfriend but then he keeps showing up later in the book trying to win her back. I felt that this ex-boyfriend plotline added nothing to the story. His actions had no real impact on anything that Georgina did and, in my opinion, you could take him out of the story and the story would be exactly the same.
I do have to confess that there was an emotional scene near the end of the book that made me cry. It was heartbreaking and sad and deals with an incident that occurs in Georgina’s past. If you are looking for a fluffy romance, you might want to skip this one.
