It’s that time of year again, when the calendar magically speeds up, the stores start playing festive music, and suddenly I want to eat all the candy canes. I’ve officially started easing myself into the holiday season.
I’ve been making a little list (not quite checking it twice yet), jotting down gift ideas, and slowly gathering wrapping and holiday card supplies so I’m not scrambling at the last minute. I’ve also started thinking about all the cozy treats I want to bake, because nothing makes a house feel more festive than something warm in the oven.
I’m also curating the holiday books I want to read in December. I’ve been looking at a bunch of lists and reading reviews to find the books to add to my shelves. I think I’ve got a great collection this year, and I can’t wait to immerse myself in the holiday feels.
My apartment is getting a gentle seasonal refresh, just a few decorations here and there, twinkle lights for ambience, and a candle that smells like gingerbread and chocolate. It’s amazing how much cozy magic a string of lights can add.
Mostly, I’m trying to enjoy the lead-up this year instead of rushing through it. Every year, it seems like the holidays arrive faster and faster. A little planning now means more time later for all the fun things: holiday movie watching, hot chocolate, and soaking in all the sparkle December has to offer.
Here’s to a slow and joyful start to the holidays.

Sounds like you have made a lot of progress! I’ve got my Christmas puzzles all lined up and a few gifts purchased for my son, but not much else done other than that. I’m hoping to decorate this weekend if all goes well.
I love that you have Christmas puzzles!
