It’s Thanksgiving today in the United States, and however you feel about the day and its complicated history, I like to use this time to pause and think about the people and things I’m truly grateful for.
I’m grateful for my family and friends, especially the friends who are opening their home and inviting me over for dinner tonight. There’s something so special about sharing a meal with people who make you feel welcome.
The older I get, the more grateful I am for my health and for the little things, like that first sip of coffee in the morning. I’m grateful that I have a job and a cozy apartment full of little things that spark joy. I love having space to spread out with my crafts and projects (sometimes too many at once!).
And of course, I’m endlessly grateful for books. They’re little windows into countless worlds, full of places I’ve never been and characters I get to know like old friends. I love that feeling of disappearing into a story and living alongside the people in it for a while.
Wherever you are today, I hope you’re having a wonderful, gentle day – whether you’re celebrating, resting, crafting, reading, or just taking it slow.
Happy Thanksgiving.
