You all know that White Christmas is one of my favorite Christmas movies. I watch it every year, usually at least twice, during the holiday season. Over the years I’ve found that almost every time I watch White Christmas, I always notice some silly little thing that causes me to laugh or makes me go “Hmmm”.
Here are 8 thoughts I had while watching White Christmas this year:
1. Near the beginning of the movie, when Bob and Phil go to Novello’s to see the Haynes Sisters, right when they walk in there is a woman who Phil blatantly eyes up sitting off to the side. Danny Kaye is such a great comedic actor and his facial expressions when he sees the woman always makes me laugh.
2. When Bob and Phil perform their rendition of “Sisters”, what are those suspenders they are wearing to hold up their socks and do men still wear these? Note – I looked it up online and apparently sock garters are a thing, however with the invention of socks that stay up on their own, the sock garter has mostly gone out of style but some people still wear them.
3. I adore the dress that Betty is wearing to the cast party/Judy and Phil’s fake engagement party. The neckline is fabulous. Whoever the costumer was for this movie, they gave Rosemary Clooney some fantastic outfits.
4. Also love that both Betty and Judy are wearing a full face of makeup when they are going to sleep, including bright lipstick!!
5. I always wonder when did Betty have time to get publicity photographs for when she performs at the Carousel Club? She’s only been there a day. But, if you look at the photograph, it looks exactly like the outfit she wears when they do the dress rehearsal for the Minstrel Number. Same gloves, same strapless gown, same bangle bracelets. Maybe she brought the photo with her??
6. It’s Bernardo! For years I was convinced that this dancer was the actor who played Bernardo in West Side Story but I could never find any confirmation. Until a couple of years ago when Wikipedia and IMDB verified that it is him and now I feel vindicated.
7. After Bob opens the knight on top the horse statue present from Betty and they have reunited, Bob pulls Betty in for a kiss. I always laugh because then Bob just drops the horse statue that he was holding into the branches of the Christmas tree where it presumably falls to the ground.
8. At the end of the movie, when they sing White Christmas, Bob motions for the stagehands to lift up the back doors of the stage so that everyone can see it is snowing outside. But I am always thinking to myself, “Isn’t it cold?” They just opened these huge doors and it’s snowing outside and women are dressed in strapless and sleeveless evening gowns. I just think it would get a little chilly in that room but that’s my opinion.
I hope everyone had a very happy holiday!

This is hilarious!
