Here is my second rendition of my monthly wrap up of some of the things I’ve watched, eaten or drank, or just loved for the month of August (can you believe it’s September already???).
What I’m watching:
If you haven’t heard of Mindhunter, it’s a Netflix show that takes place in the late ’70s and early ’80s that is about 2 FBI agents and a psychologist who originated the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit. The group interviews imprisoned serial killers, trying to understand how they think and why they committed their crimes, in the hopes of using this knowledge to solve current cases.
I watched the first season of Mindhunter when it premiered last year and I really liked it (although my favorite character may have been one of the serial killers they profile, but that’s another story). Season 2 of Mindhunter premiered last week and I’ve been anxious to find out what will happen. I liked this season; we definitely dug more into the main characters this season, which was interesting. I do have to say that I found the interviewing of the serial killers to be especially fascinating and that continued to be some of my favorite parts.
What I’m eating:
Brownies. I love brownies. Brownies are great for breakfast, as dessert, or just anytime you need a little chocolate pick me up. I love baking brownies because they’re so easy to make, especially when you use the box mix like I do. There is one box mix that I’ve been making a lot that is especially delicious – it’s the Ghirardelli Salted Caramel mix. I found these brownies to be so chocolatey and chewy, which in my opinion is essential for an excellent brownie. I also have to say that the caramel flavoring added just the right touch.
Any way you like your brownies, either made from scratch or a box mix, they’re all delicious in my eyes.
What I’m loving:
I listen to a lot of podcasts. I listen to podcasts when I’m walking to and from to work, at the gym, when I’m cleaning, when I’m at work, when I’m just hanging out in my apartment, basically anytime that I am out and about I am probably listening to a podcast. That being said, I am always on the lookout for a new podcast to listen to. If I start listening to a podcast and I like it, I will usually go through the podcast library and listen to any episodes since the podcast began that look interesting.
I just started listening to a new podcast and I am already hooked. It’s called You’re Wrong About and it’s hosted by journalists Michael Hobbes and Sarah Marshall. Each week, the hosts pick a subject and tell us the real story behind it in order to clear up those misconceptions there may be. I’ve learned so many different things listening to episodes about the Challenger Disaster, Anna Nicole Smith, and Tonya Harding. The episodes are generally about an hour long and the hosts take turns each episode “leading” the discussions. I’m not sure where I heard about this podcast but I really recommend it to anyone who is looking to learn a little more about anything.
See you next month!
