It’s been two and a half years since Mona has seen Abram and since she fled in the middle of the night after switching places back with her twin sister Lisa. Mona is looking forward to a week in Aspen, hiding out at her parent’s cabin. What she doesn’t know is that her brother Leo has invited a bunch of friends to the cabin, including Abram. Does Abram know that the week he spent with Lisa was actually spent with Mona pretending to be her sister?
Space is the second book in the Law of Physics trilogy. It takes place approximately two and a half years after the first book. Even though it’s been that long, Mona continues to think of Abram and to think of their week together. She’s written him a letter that she carries with her always, explaining everything that happened and asking for his forgiveness.
Abram meanwhile, has spent the past two and half years turning his anger and sorrow into music and is now the frontman of a popular rock band. Still, he can’t help thinking of that girl he spent a week with. By this time, he’s figured out that it was Mona and not Lisa that he fell for, but he’s still angry at the deception.
This book is told from both Mona and Abram’s point of view and we get all the angst and feelings the two have. Really, this book was pretty emotional. We have the guilt and the anger and the love between Mona and Abram and then we get family drama between Mona and Leo. We learn more about Mona’s family and how no one seems to really understand her. This book has all the feelings.
I enjoyed getting Abram’s point of view. One of the things I wanted from the previous book was Abram’s point of view. I thought it added a lot to the story and I’m glad that Penny Reid decided to include it in this one.
Like with Motion, this book also ends with a bit of cliff hanger. Mona and Abram resolve their feelings and decide to try to have a relationship. Unfortunately, it’s unclear how that relationship is going to work since Mona is leaving to do research at CERN for a year and Abram is about to embark on a world tour. I guess we will see what happens in the next book, Time.
