Fall starts this week and I am so excited.
Fall is one of my favorite seasons. Spring and fall are the seasons that I like the most. I love the way the weather transitions and changes and there is just a lot happening during these times.
Living in the Pacific Northwest, you really get all the seasons here. Now that we are heading into fall, the evenings are getting darker, the air is getting cooler, and the leaves are starting to turn and change color.
Here’s what I’m looking forward to most about fall:
- Cooler weather. I’m looking forward to those crisp mornings, perfect for a long walk.
- Wearing sweaters. I love wearing a cardigan sweater and my closet is full of them!
- Going to a pumpkin patch.
- Watching the leaves change colors. The colors are so vibrant.
- Drinking apple cider. I could drink apple cider year-round but hot apple cider is so yummy.
- Making soup. I love making and eating soup and I’m excited that it is getting cool enough to eat soups and stews again.
- Wearing scarves. Scarves are the best accessories, right?
- Halloween candy.
- New fall tv shows. I’m eager for all the new shows premiering this fall, just because I feel like we have been watching re-runs forever.
- Halloween movies, especially Hocus Pocus.
- Burrowing under blankets. There’s just something about being warm and snuggly under blankets. It’s just so comfy.
- Running a turkey trot. Bonus points if you are wearing a fun costume!
- Drinking hot chocolate by a fire.
- Reading cozy mystery books. Fall is all about being cozy!
- Learning something new. It’s a new academic year, just right for learning all the new things.
Did I miss anything?

I know autumn is hands down my favorite time of year. This year is a bittersweet because it’s potentially the gateway to a pretty rough time in the lifecycle of this current pandemic but it’s still reassuring to take comfort in the good things and familiar rhythms that are part of the season. I think you hit a lot of the important basics in your list 🙂 I like #s 4 and 14. Not necessarily mystery books per se but just a great built in excuse to hunker down in general to read a lot more.
I agree! I think both the pandemic and the changing seasons are good reasons to hunker down.
