Spring is right around the corner and I can’t tell you how ready I am for it! Spring is my second favorite season (fall is my favorite). It feels like the whole world is waking up from a long cold sleep and unfurling its arms to the sky. The flowers start to appear, the trees grow again, and the days get longer. Everything just seems more alive during springtime. After those long gray days of winter, everything seems so bright and cheerful and I love it.
Here are 15 things to look forward to in spring:
1. The blooming flowers! Let’s be real. the best part of spring is all the flowers that start blooming and I do love flowers.
2. More daylight. I think we can all agree how nice it is to end your workday and it still is light outside. Longer days mean more time to get things done in the evenings. They also allow for long walks in the evenings while it is still light out.
3. Everything is green. Seattle is kind of green year-round due to all the trees we have here, but everything is extra green in the springtime. The leaves start sprouting and all the trees are full of foliage as far as you can see.
4. The weather getting warmer. I actually like cold weather but sometimes it’s too cold to go out and do things. Springtime means the warmer weather is arriving so we can put away our heavy coats when the temperature hits that sweet spot where you just need a light jacket.
5. Opening windows. I love opening my windows and getting fresh air in my apartment. I can’t wait until I can circulate fresh air everywhere.
6. Sitting outside. How much fun it is to sit outside and read or drink your coffee on the porch? Or sit under a tree on a blanket? Spring means we can do that again.
7. Spring cleaning. It may be tedious but spring is a great time to freshen up your home and get rid of clutter.
8. Spring break. Spring break was always my favorite vacation in school, probably because it meant the school year was close to being over. While it is now synonymous with partying, I love it because it is the first vacation of the year and the first chance really to get out in the good weather.
9. Gardening. I don’t have a garden because I live in an apartment, but one day I hope to have one. Spring is the perfect time to get your garden ready for all those plants and crops you are going to grow.
10. Vibrant colors. I love seeing all the little pops of color from the flowers blooming. Spring is the time for vibrant colors – just look at all the different colors of Peeps!
11. Spending time outside without freezing. The temperature during springtime is pretty moderate – it is not too cold and not too hot. The warmer weather definitely makes it easier to spend time outdoors without being uncomfortable. Just think about the first time you go outside wearing just a t-shirt…
12. Return of birds. Many birds return from their winter migrations during the spring. There is something about hearing birds chirping in the morning that brings me joy.
13. Exercising outside. I love going for walks and exercising outside and now that spring has arrived, it is warm enough to do this outside. There are a lot of benefits to exercising outside, including that most people find it more enjoyable than being stuck inside a gym, so they are likely to exercise more.
14. All the fruit and vegetables that are in season. There are so many fruits and vegetables in season in the spring such as apricots, kiwis, honeydew melon, strawberries, and peas.
15. Getting vitamin D. The sun is starting to make its return, now that winter is over. Sunlight triggers our bodies to produce vitamin D so, naturally, spending time outside means we will be getting the vitamin D we need to keep our bones strong.
Yay spring!!

I’m loving going for walks, right now. The blossoms are so pretty, all over!
