When Eva and Jonathan meet and hook up on a night train from Florence to Paris, they don’t think they’ll see each other ever again. But six months later, they cross paths again in the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles. Coincidence? Not really. Eva is a contract killer hired to assassinate Jonathan, and what she doesn’t know is that Jonathan is also a contract killer who has been recently assigned a job to eliminate Eva. So what happens when two people, each marked for the other’s death, start to fall in love?
You know those reads that just pull you in and remind you how fun reading can be? This was one of those for me. It was exactly what I needed to break out of a streak of disappointing books. The premise alone hooked me, and the story delivered. It’s fast-paced, entertaining, and told through dual perspectives that keep the tension high.
The tone is a little quirky and a little campy, which gives the whole story a playful edge. It doesn’t always take itself too seriously, and I think that’s part of the charm. I’d probably call it a satirical romantic thriller (if that’s even a real category). It was a fun and slightly chaotic ride that I fully enjoyed.
Eva and Jonathan are both a bit broken in their own ways, but there’s something about them that still makes you want to root for them. I kept turning pages, curious to see how everything would come together.
It’s not a perfect book, but it doesn’t really need to be. It’s fun, a little dramatic, and exactly the kind of story I was looking for.

Sounds like a fun read!
I love so much that you enjoyed this read!! It sounds so fun, maybe I’ll try and snag it next from the library. 💕 Hoping your next book is just as good!
