It’s June 30, which means 2025 is just about half over. Only six months to go. I feel like I didn’t read a lot this month and instead spent a lot of time scrolling. I’m trying to get away from scrolling on social media – I even put a time limit on my phone but I usually just end up ignoring it and scrolling more. My biggest time suck lately has been reddit. Why is that website so addictive??
Here is my monthly wrap-up of some of the other things I was up to in June:
What I’m watching:
Titan: The OceanGate Disaster – This documentary about the implosion of the Titan submersible was super interesting. It had footage from former OceanGate employees, as well as investigative journalists. It mainly seemed to focus on the Stockton Rush character, whose arrogance and ambition led to the disaster. This was a hard show to watch, considering that we know how it ends. The show talks about a lot of things I didn’t know about, like how OceanGate was founded and its early days, and the dangers of the high-risk trip. I would definitely recommend this one.
The Åre Murders – This is a Swedish crime series based on two Swedish murder mystery novels: Hidden in Snow and Hidden in the Shadows. I love a good Nordic noir series, and this series was great. Everything was filmed on location in Sweden and the scenery of just miles and miles of snow really enhanced the desolate nature of the area and made everything so much better.
What I’m eating:
My book club met at The Victor Tavern in Edmonds last week. We met on a Friday night and sat out on the patio while we ate dinner and talked about our latest book club read. Coincidentally, there was a jazz band playing in the public square next to the restaurant so we were treated to some fun music while we dined. I got a chopped salad and a side order of french fries and it was the perfect meal to end the week.
What I’m drinking:
I have a new favorite Starbucks drink and it is the Salted Caramel Cream Cold Brew. This is a cold brew with vanilla syrup with salted caramel cream cold foam on top. This drink is so good, especially when you mix the cold foam with the cold brew. It is just the right amount of sweetness and the cold brew has a rich flavor that is not as bitter as espresso. I’m not sure how long this drink will last at Starbucks, since every drink I like seems to be a limited edition but I’m going to drink it until it goes away.
See you next month!

I know what you mean about scrolling too much. I get sucked into TikTok way too often!
It’s so hard to put my phone down sometimes!
